Held on December 3, 2016, the Ocean Gala brought together global leaders in ocean conservation, business, technology, and the arts for an unforgettable evening dedicated to protecting the world’s oceans. Set within the iconic Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, the gala served as a benefit event in support of critical marine conservation initiatives.

Hosted by MaiTai Global and OceanElders, the evening featured a distinguished lineup of ocean advocates and changemakers, including Sir Richard Branson, who delivered the keynote address, alongside renowned voices such as Dr. Sylvia Earle, Jackson Browne, Rob Stewart, and Bertrand Piccard.

Guests experienced a thoughtfully curated program that blended storytelling, performance, and innovation—highlighted by a special performance from the San Francisco Ballet, live and silent auctions, and the presentation of the Extreme Virtual Reality Challenge, which recognized immersive media projects advancing environmental awareness.

The Ocean Gala 2016 successfully raised over $800,000 to support ocean protection efforts, benefiting organizations including OceanElders, Mission Blue, and the CleanOceanProject. The event underscored the power of cross-sector collaboration and reinforced a shared commitment to safeguarding the ocean for future generations.
